SPECIAL SESSION

Case Studies in natural hazards risk assessment of civil engineering systems

In Canada and Worldwide, disastrous severe weather and geological hazards take place every single year. They continuously shape the landscape and have profound effects on the economic well-being, safety, and security of millions of people. This special session will focus on the ongoing activities in the field of natural hazards risk assessment including case studies of civil engineering systems subjected to natural hazards. The topics of interest include methodological developments; modelling challenges such as the structural, geotechnical, hydro-technical aspects; and communication issues of risk results to stakeholders.
